We are officially down to the last few days until we leave China! I honestly cannot contain my excitement -- I've been looking forward to this day since our first week here (eeek!). This will be my last blog post before we leave.
I meant to get another weekly roundup post up last week, but I ultimately failed. So I unintentionally skipped over two weeks. But luckily for me, not much has happened over those two weeks. Samuel and I took one last impromptu trip down to Hong Kong for a few days. I didn't have any plans, so I ended up just walking around Causeway Bay (where we stayed this time), and got to know it a little better. Everything that's happened since we got back has been a blur, and as I am writing this, we are less than 4 days out from leaving China.
On my mind and online:
1. European Wax Center
Of the many many things that I missed while abroad, my bi-weekly waxes at European Wax Center topped the list. I didn't dare get any spa treatments done in China (and didn't have time in Hong Kong and Singapore). Before leaving for China, I packed two of these wax kits just in case I was in desperate need of a wax. Out of all the at-home wax kits I've used in my lifetime, this one has to be the best one. I'm just looking forward to having a professional do it quickly and painlessly again!
This isn't news, but it looks like it might actually be happening for real soon. I can totally get behind shifting the focus from the numbers of likes to the actual photo and message. I am curious to experience firsthand how this will throw off partnerships.
This is just something that I've always felt strongly about, but more and more so as I get older. I'm glad that online communities are much more aware of mental health now and have urged people to take steps to care for that before attending to other more mundane tasks.
4. Working out
Another thing I need to resume when we move back is my exercise routine. Our first few months in China, I would walk 4-5 miles every day to go get food. And then it just stopped after I met a taxi driver who was able to take me to and from places. If I'm being totally honest here, I haven't exercised since November 2018. I've definitely gained weight, my back is tight from all the sitting, and I don't feel like my best self. I'm excited to find a new trainer to help me get back on track.
I was telling Samuel about how Gucci has basically reinvented themselves to appeal to a younger demographic, and was so glad when I came across this article that expanded on that topic.
I think yes! It's cooked, served, and eaten the exact same way as a normal burger. I don't think that renaming a vegetarian or vegan version of a traditional food just because people can't take 10 seconds out of their day to read the label or ingredients is a good practice. Are we going to rename non-alcoholic beer, too? Let me know what you think!
1. Sales happening this week:
Anthropologie: extra 50% off sale (no code required)
GAP: up to 50% off everything (no code required)
Lord & Taylor: 40% off new arrivals and up to 70% off clearance with code SAVEBIG
3. Illesteva sunglasses are my absolute favorite, and this pair is too cute!
4. All my Keds have been wrecked this year, so I ordered these sneakers to replace them. I love that they're neutral and more structured -- hopefully they will go with plenty of dresses.
5. Y'all know I love my MZ Wallace bags. All the ones that I own are either black or navy, and I just saw that this pink one is back in stock, which I really want.
I'll probably be skipping next week's weekly roundup, as we'll be swamped with moving back home. Wish us luck!
