I’m a huge fan of shirtdresses. If I worked in an office, I think I’d own a lot more of them. They're such versatile pieces that, without fail, make you look put together. The floral embroidery and the fit and flare style of this relaxed shirtdress was what sold me. The three-tier skirt and the puff sleeves add a fun vintage touch.
Roomier dresses are a must when I'm traveling because as you all know, I love my pastries and I will stuff myself silly. No better time to do so than when you're in a new place!
I bought this round straw bag from Free People last summer, so this exact one is no longer available, but this style is very popular, and you can pick up an identical one here. While I do love the unique look of this bag, it's not the most practical choice for traveling, since everything sinks to the bottom and the bag doesn't stand up on its own. Otherwise, this bag is perfect for brunch and a little morning outing.
My Illesteva sunnies (similar here) and my Jack Rogers have been featured here time and time again and they are some of my favorite accessories. I'd been hunting down those sunglasses for months, checking every single retailer, until I found them last winter at their NYC store. I've worn them nonstop ever since. I've owned the classic Jack Rogers in the past, but I don't like them as much as these. I picked up the pink pair when they were released last summer for our trips to Europe, and I've worn the life out of them (they're held up reasonable well!). I bought an extra pair as soon as I got back from Europe, you know, just in case.
We spent our morning getting lost in the French Quarter after grabbing some, you guessed it, beignets from Café du Monde. After we realized that we'd been walking past the same spots, Samuel suggested that we head over to Tulane to see a different part of town.
St. Charles Avenue is right around the university, so we had a chance to stroll around the neighborhood and pick out our favorite mansions -- there were so many gorgeous properties! The beautiful magnolia trees had just bloomed and it was such a nice surprise!
The weather was just the loveliest -- high 70s with a cool breeze, my favorite -- so I was happy to be out and about. After endless weeks of bipolar weather here, it was a nice change, and I'm more than ready for spring and summer to come.
Given how much I abhor the cold, we've seriously been considering the south as a potential place to move to. We haven't visited many cities down there, but so far, I really love it!
We wrapped up our last night with dinner at Brennan's, which was the cutest spot. It reminded me of Palm Beach so much!
Their Bananas Foster was the highlight of the meal -- they flambéd it tableside -- which we finished in two bites.
We picked up some beignets for the road and bid adieu to New Orleans.
