A COFFEE DATE


I used to be the most avid coffee drinker. In high school and my freshman year of college, I would drink espresso after espresso. And then out of nowhere, I just quit drinking coffee. I realized that I didn't actually enjoy it very much and was just drinking it for the sake of drinking it. From then on, I've been very particular about coffee. If I drink a cup, it'd better be good.

Last week, I stopped by Wrecking Ball Coffee Roasters with my parents for a little pick me up, which quickly turned into several cups of coffee. We couldn't get enough! Like I said, I'm not a huge coffee drinker, but I'd take a latte from here any day.

For my caffeine addicts, The Mission District in San Francisco is a hub for coffee roasting companies. There are more than I can count, but a few that we've visited and loved include Ritual Coffee Roasters, Sightglass Coffee, Verve Coffee Roasters, and Four Barrel Coffee.

We planned a special dinner at The Progress, State Bird Provisions' sister restaurant. The relaxed interior makes for a great space for a family dinner, and the food is served family-style, too, fittingly. I had high hopes for this place, as State Bird Provisions is Michelin acclaimed. The dishes weren't all that special -- they were decent, but not unforgettable. I'm still hoping to score reservations at State Bird, but they're always booked months in advance. One day!
