Valentine's Day is one of my all-time favorite holidays. It's a day filled with hugs, kisses, and chocolate, so what's not to love? To be completely honest, I wasn't a fan of this holiday until recently. Now, every Valentine's Day, Samuel and I fly to New York City for the weekend and hit up all our favorite spots to celebrate. It's the best -- we like to get all dressed up, him in his tailored suit and me in a romantic dress.

Getting ready and dressing up is quite enjoyable for me. One of my favorite memories from college was getting ready with all my sorority sisters before formals and parties -- doing each other's hair and makeup, "singing" along to Taylor Swift, taking photos -- it was a blast. I, admittedly, don't do that often anymore because I find no point in looking very glamorous at Whole Foods. I like to get dolled up on holidays and special occasions, and I do love when other people dress up, too. It makes everything seem so much more special.

When I spotted this RED Valentino number, I knew I had to have it. I purchased it after a few days because I couldn't stop thinking about it and I wasn't about to let something that I wanted get away again (read about that here). It's easily one of the most gorgeous dresses I own. Everything from the sweet Peter Pan collar to the intricate lace detailing (there are birds!) makes this piece the most quintessential ladylike dress.

In New York, I'll probably be wearing some tights to keep warm for the few seconds we'll be outdoors. We tend to prefer the indoors, especially in the wintertime. Some of our favorite spots to hide out for a sit-down afternoon treat are Ladurée, The Palm Court, or Balthazar's. For sweets on the go, Magnolia's, Milk Bar, Levain, and Baked are my go-to's. And we'll most likely be grabbing lunch or dinner at one of our mile-long list of Italian goodness including Rubirosa, Il Mulino, Sal's Little Italy, and Spaghetti Incident. Ice cream for dessert is a must, and we usually find ourselves at 10Below, Morgenstern's, Black Tap, or Big Gay Ice Cream Shop.

I have been a long time fan of RED Valentino. It's nice to have access to the genuine Valentino look without the equivalent sticker shock. Their feminine silhouettes have me coming back for more every season. Surprising, I glazed over the pink pieces and gravitated towards the black and white dresses this time around. If the styles out this season are an indicator of what's to come, then I have a really good feeling about next season.

I'm really looking forward to spending yet another Valentine's Day in my favorite city! For those of you celebrating Galentine's Day or Singles Awareness Day instead, go ahead and get all glammed up, too, for a night out on the town with your friends because why not? Or you could stay at home and binge watch New Girl -- anything goes! Whatever you choose to do, I wish you all a beautiful Valentine's Day filled with love and laughter!
